ASUS Touchpad Not Working | Fix Trackpad Problem

1. Make Sure ASUS Touchpad is Enabled

Before you go ahead for other solutions, the first thing you should check is whether the touchpad is enabled. To enable the touchpad, follow these steps;

• From the Settings option, select ‘Devices’.
• Click Touchpad and then choose ‘Additional Settings’.
• Check the ‘Enable Touchpad’ option.
• Click OK.

2. Use Windows Hardware and Device Troubleshooter

Windows Troubleshooter wizard in your device is a crucial tool that can help with your touchpad issues.

• First open Start button. Locate ‘control panel’ in the search bar.
• Now, choose the Control Panel option from the list of results.
• Go to ‘System and Security’ and select ‘Security and Maintenance’.
• From the options, choose ‘Troubleshooting’. Under the ‘Hardware and Sound’ section, select ‘Configure the Device’.
• The Troubleshooting Wizard will now come up on your screen.

Allow the wizard to scan your entire system and follow the consequent instructions to provide fixes on your system’s trackpad issues.

3. Reinstall Touchpad Drivers

Sometimes, a faulty mouse driver can be the reason why your touchpad isn’t working. In that case, you need to reinstall the original touchpad drivers on your ASUS device. Follow these instructions to reinstall the touchpad driver:

• First, right-click on Start and then select Control Panel.

• At first, switch off your laptop.
• Remove any cable connector, printers and USB peripherals from the laptop.
• Unplug the AC adapter. Remove the battery from the laptop.
• To drain away from the residual charge from the capacitors, press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds.
• Insert the battery back into the laptop and do the same for the AC adapter. But, don’t connect any other external drive or peripheral devices to the laptop.
• Switch on the laptop. Choose ‘Start Window Normally’ from the startup menu and enter OK.
• Slowly connect all external and peripheral devices back to the device. Now, run the Windows Update on the device to obtain all the driver updates.
