How to Fix DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET Issue?

Have you recently upgraded your device to Windows 8 or Windows 10? Some of the users have reported that they encounter DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET after upgrading their Windows device to the latest version.

This error message is strictly related to the VPN software. In case, if you are using a mobile hot-spot connection, then you frequently encounter this error message on the system screen.

If you are seeing this error message, don’t get frustrated. In this guide, you will get permanent solutions to resolve this problem. Read further to know how you can get rid of this annoying situation.

Permanent Solutions to Get Rid of  DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET Issue:

You can apply these solutions to all recent versions of Windows. The steps may be slightly changed when you use a different operating system on your device.

Note: If you are using the internet connection through the router, then save the settings of the router before performing any steps.

Fix 1: Change the DNS Server Settings

If you are getting this error message frequently, then the first thing that you need to do is to change the DNS server settings. To change the DNS server settings, follow the steps mentioned in the section below.

  1. First, press the Windows + X key at the same time to open the Settings option. Now, locate the Control Panel option and left-click on it.
  2. Thereafter, double-click on the Network and Internet section. This you will find under the Control Panel section.
  3. After that, move to the ‘Network and Sharing Center’ section and left-click on it. Next, locate the Change Adapter Settings option from the right side of the same section and left-click on it.
  4. Then, the list of the Network Adapters will appear on the system screen. Choose the one which you are using currently and left-click on it.
  5. Now, choose the Properties option from the list and locate the IPv4 option and double-click on it to open. Then another Properties option will appear on the system screen.
  6. Locate the ‘Use the Following DNS server address’ and left-click on it. Then, set the Preferred DNS Server field and Alternate DNS Server with the proper IP address. To save the IP address, click on the Validate option and then OK button to end the process.

After doing so, close the Windows and check whether this DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET problem gets resolved or not.

Fix 2: Change the Router DNS Server Settings

Sometimes, an internal server or unstable network connection might also cause this error message. Now, you need to check the router settings and replace the same DNS with the other one from the DNS server settings. Hence, follow the steps mentioned in the section below.

  1. First, press the Start button and then type ‘cmd’ in the search bar. Hit the Enter button to open the Command Prompt window.
  2. Thereafter, type “IPCONFIG /ALL” in the Command box and hit the Enter button to execute the command.
  3. Afterward, you need to locate the text which is shown for the name of the Network Adapter.
  4. After that, click on the Physical Address under the Network Adapter section. When you are done, close the Command Prompt window.
  5. Then press the Start button again and type ‘ncpa.cpl in the search window. Hit the Enter button. Due to this, the name of the network will pop up on the device screen. Right-click on it.
  6. Next, click on the Properties option and then move to the Configuration section.
  7. You will get the Advanced section from the left panel. Now, choose the Network Address under the Advanced option. After that, enter the IP address of the network and follow the on-screen instructions.

Once you are done with all the steps, click the OK button and restart the system. Finally, try to open any web browser and check if the problem of DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET still appears or not.

Fix 3: Use Command Prompt

You can easily resolve the problem by entering some commands in the Command box. If the above process fails to resolve the error message, then apply the following steps and eliminate the error message.

  1. In the beginning, click on the Windows Start button and type ‘cmd’ in the search button. Now, right-click on the Command Prompt window and select the Run as administrator option.
  2. Now, enter the following commands one after another and hit the Enter button each time.
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /all
    ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /renew
    netsh int ip set dns
    netsh Winsock reset
  3. After doing so, restart the system and check whether you are browsing the web browser properly or not.

Fix 4: Update the Network Drivers

According to the users, the problem arises due to the use of an outdated Network Driver. Hence, to fix the problem, you need to update the Network driver. To do so, follow the steps mentioned in the section below.

  • At first, press the Start button and then move to the Device Manager section. Here you will find the Network driver from the list.
  • Now, right-click on it and choose the Update the Driver option. It automatically starts downloading the latest version of the Network driver.
  • After downloading the latest version of the Network driver, double-click on it to install it on your device.

After doing so, check if the error message still appears or not.

Fix 5: Turn Off the Firewall

The problem also appears due to the Windows firewall or third-party firewall software that is installed on your device. To get rid of this situation, you need to disable it.

If the above methods fail to resolve the problem, then try to apply these steps. Here’s how you can do so.

  • At first, double-click on the Windows firewall or third-party antivirus software.
  • Now, move to Disable the Antivirus Software option.
  • Using the toggle switch, you can easily turn off the antivirus software.

After disabling the Windows Firewall or any third-party antivirus software that is installed on your device, check if the problem gets resolved.

Fix 6: Update the Web Browser

Upgrade the web browser if you still get the same error message. You can also use an alternate web browser to resolve the problem.

Hopefully, after applying these methods, you can easily resolve the DNS_Probe_Finished_No_Internet problem permanently.
